DEIDRE HEEKIN

Deidre Heekin is a vigneron working in Vermont. As co-proprietor of La Garagista with her husband Caleb Barber, Deidre farms and makes wine and cider in the Châteauguay mountains and the Champlain Valley.

In addition to wine growing and making, Deidre is also a writer and photographer. She has authored three books about food, farming, wine, and place, the most recent is An Unlikely Vineyard. She is working on a fourth book about the world of hybrid grape varieties in a quickly changing environment.

Deidre is passionate about the regeneration of the land, the natural world of the vineyard, and how that work translates into the shepherding process of making wine with heart.
